Quarterly Monitoring Exercise – Kampala City Road Links Project
As part of the Quarterly Monitoring exercise for the M&E and Technical Audit of the Kampala City Road Links Project under KCRRP, the project team conducted a comprehensive site visit to review the progress of works implemented by the five engaged contractors.
The main objective of this exercise was to assess the overall status of project implementation, identify key achievements, and highlight areas requiring corrective action or enhanced attention to ensure the project’s successful delivery.
The monitoring process involved a detailed evaluation of technical performance, including the quality of workmanship, adherence to approved designs and specifications, compliance with construction schedules, and adequacy of supervision.
In addition, the assessment reviewed the implementation of environmental and social safeguards to ensure conformity with national regulations and African Development Bank standards. Specific attention was given to road safety interventions, such as signage, traffic management, and protection of road users during construction activities.
Furthermore, the audit examined contractual and administrative aspects, focusing on payment progress, variation management, contractor capacity, and coordination between the client, supervision consultants, and contractors. Several issues requiring urgent resolution were identified, particularly those affecting work progress, safety compliance, and environmental management.
The findings from this quarterly visit provide a comprehensive overview of project performance and serve as a basis for targeted recommendations to enhance efficiency, compliance, and overall project impact in subsequent implementation phases.
