TIMCON was engaged by KeNHA to undertake Detailed Design Road Safety Audit of the 142 km road section from Elwak to Gari to Rhamu located in Mandera County of North Eastern region of Kenya. The audit recommended a range of potential remedial measures and provided guidance on the principles that should be incorporated in developing other solutions in consideration of the prevailing engineering and technical constraints.
Some of the recommendations made include:
- provision of pedestrian facilities within the townships and market areas;
- rationalization of junction design requirements;
- provision of bus bays and truck parking facilities and
- review of vertical alignments to be in line with the design speed
