TIMCON was engaged by KeNHA to undertake a Detailed Design Road Safety Audit of the 142 km road section from Elwak through Gari to Rhamu in Mandera County, located in the North Eastern region of Kenya. The audit recommended a range of remedial measures and provided guidance on principles to be incorporated when developing solutions, while considering prevailing engineering and technical constraints.
Some of the key recommendations included:

Provision of pedestrian facilities within townships and market areas;

Rationalization of junction design requirements;

Provision of bus bays and truck parking facilities; and

Review of vertical alignments to align with the design speed.
