Road Safety Audits Completed on Three Key KeNHA Corridors
As part of the Road Safety Assessment of Select Key Roads Along the KeNHA Network Project, our team carried out a detailed Road Safety Audit (RSA) along the following corridors:
- Jn A8 Gilgil-Rumuruti-Maralal (A4) Road, covering approximately 220km within the Central and Upper Eastern Region.
- Jn A2 Kenol-Muranga-Sagana-Kagio-Jn B24 Kianjiru (B25) Road covering approximately 65km within the Central Region.
- Jn A8 Makutano-Machakos-Masii-Kyua-Jn A9 Syongila (B62) Road, covering approximately 109km within the Lower Eastern Region.
The exercise began with an entry meeting at the KeNHA Regional Offices, where the team engaged in constructive discussions on existing safety concerns, traffic dynamics, and the unique operational challenges along the corridors.
The field audits, conducted during both day and night, enabled a thorough assessment of road geometry, visibility, pedestrian activity, roadside conditions, and access management issues. This approach ensured that the audits captured safety gaps across different operational conditions.
The insights obtained will guide the development of practical safety interventions to make the corridors safer and more accessible for all users.
We appreciate the Kenya National Highways Authority and the respective Regional Offices for their close collaboration, guidance, and support throughout the audit process.
