Safety assessment was undertaken on the 2.3km section of Royal Road extending from Ring Road to 1050 Royal Road with a focus at access to 850 Royal Road, Fredericton, NB as part of the Transportation Impact Assessment (TIA). The Assessment covered quantification of the existing conditions of the section of Royal Road and recommendation of improvements as necessary. The assessment included field review and qualitative assessment of the site conditions as well as the traffic volume and collisions data analysis. The Study recommended provision of a warning system to introduce a higher awareness level and caution at the access as well as usage of larger signs coupled with a flashing amber light, installation of curve warning signs and clearance of foliage covering signs.
