This project involved Road Safety Audit of the Ahero Kisii Isebaniah (A1) Road design. Improvements are being planned for the A1 from Ahero to Kisii to Isebania. The Study reviewed the collisions data, proposed alignments, sight distances, and other features paying special attention to requirements for pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.
It also looked at the adequacy of sections especially within Townships and markets and provision for pedestrian crossovers such as footbridges. Collision patterns were correlated to the existing road geometric provisions and an assessment of the adequacy of the medical facilities within the road corridor to provide care to accident victims undertaken.
