This project involved a Road Safety Audit of the Ahero–Kisii–Isebania (A1) Road design. Improvements were planned for the A1 from Ahero to Kisii to Isebania. The study reviewed collision data, proposed alignments, sight distances, and other features, with particular attention to the needs of pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.
It also examined the adequacy of sections, especially within townships and markets, and provisions for pedestrian crossovers such as footbridges. Collision patterns were correlated with existing road geometric provisions, and an assessment was undertaken of the adequacy of medical facilities within the corridor to provide care to accident victims.
