TIMCON Transport Consulting was awarded consultancy services for Traffic Data Collection along the KeNHA Road Network – Lot 1. The Network covers Key Road networks overseen by KeNHA in the Eastern half of the Republic of Kenya.
The study aimed to cover traffic surveys for the eastern half of the country (Lot 1). The traffic surveys undertaken included:
- Classified sectional traffic volume counts
- Origin-destination surveys
- Axle load surveys
- Speed surveys
- Accident data surveys
- Ccommodity flow surveys
- Vehicle operating costs
- Emission surveys
In addition, the study also involved a comprehensive analysis of the current survey census points of the KeNHA road network. As part of the analysis to determine ADT and AADT values for the road network, the consultant also established seasonal variation factors that was used in determining traffic volumes.
TIMCON also worked with client staff in an effort of knowledge transfer and capacity building throughout the project period and trained the client on the use of a traffic data analysis and modelling software.
