A safety assessment was undertaken on the 2.3 km section of Royal Road, extending from Ring Road to 1050 Royal Road, with a focus on the access to 850 Royal Road, Fredericton, NB, as part of the Transportation Impact Assessment (TIA). The assessment covered the quantification of existing conditions along this section of Royal Road and recommended improvements as necessary. It included a field review and qualitative assessment of site conditions, as well as analysis of traffic volumes and collision data. The study recommended the provision of a warning system to increase driver awareness and caution at the access, the use of larger signs coupled with a flashing amber light, installation of curve warning signs, and clearance of foliage obscuring existing signs.
