TIMCON teamed up with EDR of Boston USA to undertake this assessment that involved modelling and economic assessment to evaluate the benefits of multiple improvements proposed for Kampala City in Uganda. The projects include operational interventions to decongest the City covering junction signalization, roadway widening and resurfacing, construction of missing links and traffic management measures. The assessment was undertaken through demand forecasting and micro-simulation modelling and confirmed that would reduce travel and improve accessibility in the City. The economic assessment evaluated not only the traditional benefits of travel time and accident savings but examined also environmental, reliability and induced costs and benefit and demonstrated the viability of the proposed improvements.
