This project involved a Road Safety Audit of the 525 km A2 Road from Isiolo through Marsabit town and Turbi to Moyale town at the border with Ethiopia. The safety concerns included inadequate pedestrians facilities; missing traffic signs especially at horizontal curves and crossings; missing and poor installation of pavement markings, poor design and installation of longitudinal safety barriers and need for additional climbing lanes especially within the Isiolo- Merille section. For the quick win-low cost interventions such as flexible safety barriers, pavement markings, traffic signs and most importantly, pedestrian considerations were recommended. In the long term more costly interventions more such as construction of climbing lanes and the rigid safety barriers were recommend.
